Fall Trends 2012: Zaphire Autumn!
Zaphire Autumn! por mic-chic con genuine leather boots
Hi There! Today I come with a fall trend for this 2012!. This next season we are going to be seeing (if not already) some bright colors on the streets, that is because this colors are going to be so in!. Bright jewell blue, chartreusse, mustard yellow, turquoise and lilac are some of them!
I made an outfit inspired in equestrian fashion (which I think never gets old for this colder months), incorporating a gorgeous zaphire blue blazer, paired with classic jeans, equestrian tan boots and tan bag. For jewellery I chose a statement necklace in gold and a very nice michael kors acrylic watch. On the lips I would suggest wearing a bit of coral (mac s vegas volt is the way! haha). All in all this outfit is pretty casual yet put together, and perfect for almost any ocassion!

Lilac it!
Hello!!! Today I am here with an outfit idea to transition to fall!. Lilac is such a gorgeous color and to me it is a color that does work for all seasons if properly styled!.
This is still a summer outfit but it is completely inspired by this shade, which is going to be very wearable for this next season.
You can pair this shade for summer with coral or orange shades, you can also wear this shade with black, white, pastel hues, and green and looks very nice.
So when thinking of your fall wardrobe do not forget to consider this lovely shade and rock it!

Evening Inspiration
![]() |
| Link! |
Hello!! Today I want to share this picture with you, this is Rita Hayworth in the movie "Affair in Trinidad" (1952). This dress she is wearing really caught my eye!
Designed by Jean Louis, a french designer that worked for Columbia Pictures from 1944 to 1960, he dressed some very important actresses such as Loretta Young, Marlene Dietrich, Marylin Monroe. And also designed Rita' s iconic dress from the movie Gilda.
Anyway I just loved the way this dress flows. It gives Rita a nice defined waist with that gorgeous gathered skirt that almost looks like a circular one, it is made out of two different color chiffon fabric. The top part of the dress has a nice drapping at the bust section that gives the dress some balance. One thing about black and white movies is that you can never tell (unless you research or find a picture in color) what color the dress was!. I imagine this being a nice soft coral hue dress. Love the 50s wide skirt evening gowns, they inspire me so much.
Hope you enjoyed this post :)

Coral Retro
coral retro by mic-chic featuring a peplum shirt
Hello!! So by now you must know that I love retro styles, and coral haha.
Today I bring you some inspiration for how to wear coral this summer.
This summer I made myself a peplum top out of a soft cotton fabric. Sleeveless, with a boat neck and of a gorgeous soft coral. I really love the look of it, it looks casual but yet very put together. And of course adds that little bit of "retroesque -air" to your outfit.
I love mixing Coral with Turquoise accesories I think it is the loveliest combination, since this two colors are complementary. A pair of blue jeans, retro sunglasses, a nice coral lipstick and you are good to go!!.
Hope you enjoyed this post :)

New Lipstick Obsession!!
I' ve been so absent lately!!, I have been so busy doing some dresses and sewing projects, plus my computer is not as fast as it used to be! haha.
Today I come with a lipstick post!!!. Lipstick is one of my favourites things in life! I got a new coral shade for my birthday, and I haven't stop wearing it!! it is just so gorgeous.
I had been eyeing one peach vibrant lipstick from Illamasqua called Obey, for quite a while, now they don't sell Illamasqua where I live so I was looking for a "dupe". Now I saw a blog where someone suggested wearing MAC's Vegas Volt with MAC's Myth. I don't own Myth, but I have Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle, which I have heard is quite similar. So end of story I bought Vegas Volt! and it is the most gorgeous coral cream color!!!.

| MAC 's Vegas Volt |
So if I want a vibrant lip I would use this on its own, it looks so nice and it brightens my complexion. If I want an early 60's lip look (which is what I go for most of the time) I will apply it under my Revlon Creamsicle lip butter, you can also use a little bit of concealer to light the lipstick up, and it looks amazing too!.

| The upper swatch is Vegas Volt on its own, the second one is Vegas Volt with Creamsicle by Revlon. |
You can see how much lighter the lipstick looks, a lot more peachy and very similar to gorgeous Illamasqua's Obey.
So this lipstick is a must-have for summer and I think I can even make it work for fall! haha I love it so much!
Hope you enjoyed. :) !

Beautiful Birthday Oufit!!

So last sunday was my birthday!, I have to admit that I have always been one of those persons that get all excited about their birthdays. I plan my outfit, makeup, and nails haha. I just love to have a special day where I can dress up just because I want to.
So this year I was really captivated by lace tops and dresses, they are so romantic and very elegant. I decided I wanted to make myself one. I chose a creamy coloured lace and made a fitted bodice with a gathered bottom section, from the waist down 9". It was a stretchy lace, so the sleeves where very fitted too.
I kept the oufit casual by adding a pair of really dark denim jeans, at first I wanted to pair it with very pale accesories in pink, but decided to add a pop of bright color in yellow for the shoes and the Aldo "Picketpin" bag in lilac. Pale peach nails, and bright coral lips. Along with gold jewelry.
So I had a great time and really enjoyed my choice of outfit!

Modern take on 60's peachy Make-up
Hello!! today I want to talk about make up.
And if you are not familiar with Lisa Eldridge, she is a very famous british make up artist, that works with magazines, actresses and models.
Now what I love about the make up in this video is that it is so simple yet it makes you look so fresh, young, and gorgeous!. Now the main focus on this look is the lipstick wich is amazing!!.. It is Obey by Illamasqua, and it is so original and yes! it has got that retro feel I love!.
It is a soft look that can also work with other bright lipsticks! I would try it with the lovely Saint Germain by Mac, or maybe for fall/winter with a red lipstick. Either way this is a lovely look that works for every day! Hope you like this post. See you soon!

Technicolor Feel
Technicolor Feel by mic-chic featuring a peplum dress
So today I bring you this collage, featuring actress Doris Day style, it is inspired again by the 1960's, you will find it is one of my favorite eras, not only in fashion, I think that from the late 50's to the mid 60's, people started to discover new ways for design and for the use of colour and expression, coming up with all those gorgeous dresses, accesories, lipsticks, and even cars.
I've noticed that since a couple of years back to now, this trends have started to return very strongly, you can look throught a magazine and notice the hair do's, the make up and clothes, they are very much inspired by this time.
So I love Doris Day movies from the early 60's they were fun, and simple, and full of this colorful design imagery.
Above you can see an outfit I put together inspired by her. Simple line dresses, with boat necks and above the knee lenght, all in one color, that would always complimmet her bright coral lipstick. So I paired a nice orangy-red peplum dress with nice light sky blue classic heels, and very simple but elegant accesories.
Down below, I post a picture of me wearing a dress I made myself, it is not summery, I designed it for last new year's eve, but it was very much inspired by this early 60's simple dresses, made with an emerald green taffeta, and deep green teardrop rhinestones along the boat neckline. Very elegant and nice.

Retro Night Out
Hi!! just a quick post, to show you a nice outfit I put together, inspired by the 60s. This is a decade that really attracts me.
The colours they used back then for design, the shapes, and everything about it seems idyllic to me.
I did this collage inspired by one of the "icons" of the 1960s, Priscilla Presley. This is the perfect look for an evening special occasion. The dress has a very classic shape but the pink lace makes it romantic. I paired this dress with black shoes and clutch for a more elegant look. Big hair, a light pink on the nails and lips and very dramatic eyes will complete the look!

3 ways summer!
Hello!! Today I am here with another outfit for summer!.
Lately dresses have been so in, they come in many different colors and patterns, also in many different shapes. This kind of dress with elasticated waist band has been very popular since last year.
They are very versatile and they can go from day to night with simple arrengements.
I am giving you three options, one for daytime and the other two for a night out. The dress has a very simple shape, you could use it on its own, but I love belts and enhancing the waist is always good!
For daytime I would match this dress with an elastic canvas material wide belt paired with canvas wedge pumps. It is very casual yet put together, perfect for any ocassion.
For nightime I would pair the dress with a skinny belt, either gold or any bright color you like , I chose turquoise. And a pair of bright yellow pumps will look really nice with this look!
The color is a gorgeous pink that is in between a bubble gum pink and a neon pink. It is one of the most flattering shades of pink, it brightens the complexion, and it screams summer!!.
The fabric I used is a light chiffon with a jersey material for the lining, and the pattern is one I made based on a basic dress pattern.
Here is a picture of me wearing it on both day and night versions.

Cream Peach & Coral!
Hello! Today I want to talk about nail polish!. Is one of my favourite beauty related things to buy, you can add so much to a look by incorporating a nice color on your nails and also make a statement. Plus you can change it whenever you want!
A colour that is always on trend for spring and summer is coral and various shades in this hue. I personally love brights for summer, but pastels are a nice way of sporting a romantic look, also for those who are in the work place, they are really convenient.
So I have 4 shades of peach and coral nail polish to show you. I have been on the hunt for this kind of shades, I have to say that I have not found the one I am looking for!. But this are some of my favourites!
They are China Glaze "Peachy Keen", and "V". Finger Paints in "Original Orange". And one random nail polish from the drugstore.

Peachy Keen and Original Orange are the brightest, I would describe Peachy Keen as a cream neon peach, it is very bright and summery.
Original Orange is an orange with red undertones, in natural light it looks more of a bright coral.
V and the light peach one are quite light, and weareable.
V is a nice peach shade with pink undertones which makes it more bright.
The light cream peach polish is one of my favourites, it is very similar to "Essie's A Crewed Interest" a subdued tone of peach, very creamy and romantic. The kind of colour you could wear to your wedding.
Here are some individual swatches of each of the nailpolish shades. All in all this are fabulous colors to rock on spring and summer. They go well with any trend that's in for this season. Gotta Love them!
See you soon!

Rita Hayworth Inspired Dress
Today I am here to share with you one of my biggest inspirations. I love old hollywood films especially 1940's ones. Particularly those in which Rita Hayworth is the star.
The way she transformed completely with each role she played is amazing. Also the glamour that we are able to see in this movies, the way the actresses dressed, with stunning evening gowns and impecable hair and make up, is what attracts me the most, not to mention the romantic air of the time. So this era is really iconic to me and feeds my creativity every time.
Whenever I need some inspiration, a movie like "Gilda" will always do the trick.
The dress below is one I made inspired by Rita Hayworth and her style in films. It was made out of a bright cherry red chiffon, very flowy and vibrant. It has a "v" neck and some drapping on the top, the drapping continues down to the skirt, creating a little volume and movement in the dress. It is a bold color and a very flattering piece. You can almost see Rita dancing in this.
So time and time again I will go back to watch films from this golden era and continue to get inspired by it's glamour and timeless glow.

Design Project: Evening Gown
Today I want to share with you a project I did. Evening dresses are so much fun to design and make.
The dress I am going to show you today is part of a collection of four dresses.
My inspiration was the mid 30's fashion, the screen stars and the dresses they wore. Back in that era, hollywood was very important in the field of fashion. Common people wanted to recreate the dresses and looks they saw in the movie stars of the time (much like today though). The dresses had a lot of flowing fabric (greek inspired) and many details mostly at the back , like ruffles, jewelry, and embroidery. Of course I also wanted to make it a bit more modern and wearable.
Here's a bit of my inspiration and the "final" sketch.

Color Blocking With Stripes!
Hello! today I would like to start this little styling posts. As a fashion designer I tend to make my own clothes, anything that comes to my mind or inspires me at the moment, I create it and wear it right away. I love sewing, is a great passion of mine.
So here I present you a style collage with a bit of the inspiration and then the outfit made by me ( I need to work with the shots so you can have a complete view with the shoes and all)
So Color Blocking is very strong this season. We see it everywhere from casual outfits to nightime wear.
I 'm inspired by retro looks all the time, and the way old hollywood stars dressed in their normal everyday lives.
Today I put together this outfit joining a bit of color blocking and a bit of retro inspiration. Black and White stripes have a very retro feel to me, they have been very popular since back in the 40's and even before that.
Peplum tops are so in this season and they help make your waist look smaller (which is always a plus), combined with this pencil bright pink skirt, makes it look like if you were wearing a one piece dress. The yellow pumps are a nice touch that add vibrancy to the look.
Make up wise this season, matching your lipstick with your outfit is very in. Combine this outfit with a hot pink lipstick, and you are good to go on your night out!.
I made this top with my own pattern, the fabric is a linen type of fabric, non stretch. It has a zipper at the back and it is very confortable. The skirt is also made by me, and it is a pencil skirt made out of silk fabric, which is very delicate to work with. My shoes which are not in the shot are a pair of yellow pumps from Nine West, from a couple of years back.
Do not be afraid of mixing patters and bright colors!!! See you soon!
