From Brassy to Classy...

Hello!.
Today I want to share a project I did recently. Now I'm all about vintage, clothes, jewelry, furniture, decor, and the list goes on. But when I moved into a house late 2009, I found a nice retro looking brass mirror, that had been left in one of the bedrooms, I fell in love, only instead of finding myself wanting to preserve it the way it was, I felt an urge to "fix" it.
It was until I moved out of this house that I decided something had to be done about it.

I'm all about light spaces, white on white, and minimalism, of course my first thought was to spray paint it white. So I went and did my research, after a few days, I knew what I had to do.
I had read such good things of the RustOleum line of spray paint, I was sure it was the perfect solution for my mirror. So I went out and got it. I went for a matte finish first, and got only one can. Proceeded to prep my mirror (I only cleaned it up, since sanding the brass was scratching the surface in my case). I started painting, and yes indeed this spray paint was wonderful, I noticed the finish was too matte, so much so that almost looked "2d" it had no dimension, and it needed another coat. So this time around I got a satin finish one, here's the link http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/painters-touch-ultra-cover-2x/satin

It was beyond amazing, perfect finish, and so easy to apply. The finished product was a chic looking mirror. I leave you with some before and after pictures.

Before and After

Now I can surely tell you that this paint is on for good, even though I didn't apply a finishing coat or anything, It has been nearly 3 months since I painted it, and it has held up amazingly well. I confess I love "DIY-ing" is one of my all time favorite things to do, there's nothing like the satisfaction of beholding one of your projects all finished up ( and looking lovely of course). You should try it sometime!!! :)
